Copier reps may give a deal on a demo copier for a close friend, but for the average person off the street, that’s unlikely to happen. The rep will take the spiff unless they have to use the demo to get the sale in the first place.

By asking about a demo unit and letting the rep know you’re looking for a good deal, you can save yourself at least 10% on your copier purchase.
Even if a demo unit isn’t available for purchase, you send a strong signal to your copier rep that you care about how much the copier costs. Thus, you are more likely to get a fair price from him than if you would’ve asked for a quote right out of the gate.
